How do I know the service is working? Is credit repair legal? What if deleted items appear again? Do I need to see my credit reports first? Does paying old bills restore my credit? How long can this take? Can I restore my own credit? Do I need to pay my bills? How do you restore my bad credit? Following our Free Consultation and your sign-up, we help you pull a 3-in-1 report together with all your scores at our expense. Then, we will prepare the appropriate challenge letters and measures to take.  Such letters are designed to communicate your dispute in such a way that the credit bureaus will accept the dispute and conduct an investigation. While this may sound easy, any person who has attempted to dispute his or her own credit may tell you other wise. According to federal law, the credit bureaus can ignore your dispute under a variety of conditions unless the proper action is taken --  that's where our experience and knowledge can help. At the conclusion of the credit reporting agency's investigation, a new copy of the credit report is sent to your home along with any deletions or improvements. You then copy and send us the new credit report and the cycle repeats it self at timed intervals. A disputed credit listing must be accurate and verifiable for it to remain on the credit report. If the credit listing is only somewhat inaccurate, the credit bureau may simply change the item to reflect the accurate status. Very often, disputed credit items cannot be verified; the creditor either no longer possesses the information or does not wish to go to the trouble of verifying it.  Also, the re-investigation must be completed within 30 days or the listing must be removed. For these reasons, properly disputed credit listings are removed with remarkable frequency. How do I know the service is working? Great American requests just two things from our clients: 1. That you remain current on all of your monthly payments for the duration of your use of credit repair services. If you do fall behind, please let us know immediately so that we can seek to minimize damage to your credit. 2. That you forward a copy of all correspondences you get from creditors and the credit bureaus. This keeps our records current, and updates our credit repair program to work efficiently for you. Because the credit reporting agency and creditors do not communicate directly with us, you will be receiving information from them frequently at your address. Please make a copy and forward the original to us. This will allow our team to track your success.   Is credit repair legal? There is nothing illegal about disputing items on your credit report although, the credit reporting agencies would like you to think differently. In fact, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) gives you the legal right to dispute items on your credit report. The Federal Fair Credit Billing ( FFCB)allows consumers the right to request broad amounts of information regarding billing and payment history.  The Federal Fair Credit Billing Act (FFCBA) allows consumers the right to request broad amounts of information regarding billing and payment history. The Fair Debt Collection Act (FDCA) gives you rights as a citizen regarding the behavior and duties of debt collectors. We are educated in the changing laws to fight for your legal rights.    What if deleted items appear again? Sometimes when a negative item is removed from your credit report, credit reporting agencies will eventually verify the item and it will reappear on your credit report again. The newly enacted FCRA requires the credit reporting agency to inform you before the item will show up again. The FCRA also makes it harder for credit reporting agencies to re-insert listings. Due to these facts it is rare to see a listing come back after it was deleted. If the item does show up again, we will simply challenge  the listing again for a permanent deletion.    Do I need to see my credit reports first? It is not necessary to have copies of your credit reports when you first sign up. Most of our clients come to us after they have been denied credit and have a good idea of what negative listing is most likely appearing.  With this in mind, it is not necessary to know exactly what is appearing on the credit report before we begin work. It is only necessary to know that there is a credit problem, which needs to be addressed.  Our team will provide you with detailed instructions on the retrieve of your credit reports and how to forward them to us. Believe it or not, just one negative item on your credit report can have a huge impact for credit denial. If you believe you only have a couple of negative items on your credit, it will still make sense for you to seek out help and remove those items.    Does paying old bills restore my credit? It may seem like paying off your old bills would be a good thing right? WRONG! You would think that to be true. However, the credit scoring system functions differently.  When you pay an old debt, the negative credit listing doesn't disappear. Once paid, it will appear on your credit report as a paid delinquency, charge off or collection. Even worse, the new activity on the account can hurt your credit score.  You will not get very far paying your debts unless you also work to restore your credit report at the same time.   How long can this take? All of our clients have a different credit profile.  You may see results within 45 days, but most reports take anywhere from 90 days to six months to be complete. Some may take up to a year depending on the severity. If you choose to stay on the program after six months, we deeply discount your future monthly fees. Can I restore my own credit? Absolutely! You can fix your own transmission in your car, repair a broken tile in the shower, diagnose with a medical condition and play drums in a band. However, most people choose to allow a professional represent them because the professional understands the intricate details of the service. Another factor to consider is the amount of time and follow-up is required to co-ordinate disputes with all three credit reporting agencies. Great American has systematized the dispute process of credit through a trained team and custom designed software package. With that said, we encourage consumers to dispute their own credit if they have the time and knowledge to do so.    Do I need to pay my bills? If there are delinquent accounts appearing on your credit reports that have not been paid off, the actual debt behind the listing remains the same even if we delete the account from your credit report. You still owe the same money that you owed in the first place. If you don't pay the debt, the creditor or collection agency could always re-report the item. So removing the listing without addressing the debt is only a temporary solution. great american credit repair
